Doubling the bridge span
Task
Doubling of the span of the bridge over the Dora Riparia river in the municipality of Exilles
The project for the bridge over the Dora Riparia river in the municipality of Exilles (Turin) in the locality of ‘La Fucina’ is part of a hydraulic intervention to restore an entire stretch of the river following the floods of May 2008.
The bridge consists of a single-span deck with traditional abutments.
The carriageway has two lanes, each 3 m wide, both equipped with side verges and kerbs with class H2 safety barriers.
The bridge deck consists of three box girders, each 125 cm high, prefabricated in the factory using a pre-tensioning system and transported and completed on site with a slab cast on lattice girders of varying heights.
There are two head crossbeams equipped with manholes, cast in situ and pre-stressed before the slab was cast.
The substructure restraint system consists of three steel and Teflon supports with confined elastomeric discs at each shoulder.
The joint on the right movable shoulder is of the reinforced rubber bridge plate type, while on the left, the longitudinal constraint is achieved by means of four φ50 bars in tempered C40 steel.
The structural design took into account all static and seismic actions, as well as ordinary and accidental road traffic, based on specific studies and geotechnical surveys to verify the foundations.
